Union County, Georgia

Union County , Georgia borders Towns County to the west and the North Carolina border to the north.  The county surrounds the TVA Nottely Lake and is located north of the Appalachian mountains .  Blood Mountain is one of the tallest peaks in this area.  Vogel State Park is a popular destination for local residents and visitors with lovely hiking trails, a small lake, swimming area, picnicking, and a breath-taking waterfall.  The town of Blairsville is the largest town in the three counties and is rapidly growing with excellent schools for families looking to locate in the area.  North Georgia Technical College is located west of Blairsville and offers a myriad of college courses.  Many adults take advantage of the extended learning possibilities at the college.  In June of each year the community of Blairsville hosts the “Blairsville Scottish Festival and Highland Games”.  It is a grand event with music, competition, folk dances, and vendors of all kinds.
