Clay County, North Carolina
Clay
County, North Carolina is due north of
Towns
County
in western
North Carolina
and lies on the north shores of TVA Lake Chatuge.
The town of
Hayesville
is the county seat and sits at the foot of the spectacular Tusquitee Mountain
Range. The area is known for its
excellent scenery, outdoor activities, and mountain habitat.
The small community of Hayesville is growing and enjoys a quiet lifestyle
and “old town” feeling. It has a
quaint downtown square with a wonderful courthouse that dates to pre-civil war
times. The people are warm and
generous with a sense of preserving the past.
Several festivals are held during the year on the square with crafts,
music, and artists. The TVA Chatuge
dam is located close to Hayesville and offers nice picnic facilities,
biking/walking trails, and access to the lake.
It is a great place to live or just visit.
